Abstract
The clinical outcome of women with adenosquamous carcinoma of uterine cervix has been a controversial issue. During the period from January 1, 1986, through December 31, 1993, 100 patients with adenosquamous carcinoma of the uterine cervix were
evaluated at Korea Cancer Center Hospital to assess the clinical and pathologic features.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The mean age of patients was 46.4¡¾10.2 years old
2. The distribution of patients according to FIGO clinical stage was as follows : stage 0, 5 cases(5%) ; stage I, 46 cases(46%) ; stage II, 36 cases(36%) ; stage III, 12 cases(12%) ; stage IV, 1 case(1%).
3. The 3-year disease free survival rates according tot he FIGO clinical stage were as follows: stage I, 77.1% ; stage II, 48.5 ; stage III and IV, 21.2%(p<0.05).
4. The primary tumor size might be useless prognostic factor(p=0.5783)
5. The lymph node metastasis might be useless prognostic factor(p=0.0724).
6. The survival rate of patients with adenosquamous carcinoma was worse than that with squamous cell carcinoma in historical comparison.
We consider that adenosquamous carcinoma should be managed more aggressively with multiple modality of treatment.
